This short guide shows you how to check the amount of cellular data used by each device connected to your iPhone's Personal Hotspot.
iOS has long allowed users to see the total mobile data amount used on Personal Hotspot. iOS 26.4 shows this data in more detail.
This update lists the device names and how much data each one has used while connected to your iPhone's Personal Hotspot. The device with the highest usage is listed first, followed by the others.
Additionally, there is a Other Devices category that shows the Personal Hotspot data used by iPhones, iPads, and other devices running macOS 15.3 or earlier. Data used by Android and other devices is also included.
Viewing your iPhone Personal Hotspot's device-specific data consumption
1) Update your iPhone to iOS 26.4 or a newer version. It is currently in beta.
2) Open the Settings app and tap on Personal Hotspot.
3) Wait a few seconds and tap on Data Usage under the Maximize Compatibility option.
4) After updating to iOS 26.4, you will now see a list of devices using your iPhone's Personal Hotspot. All previous Personal Data usage figures and data from older Apple devices and Android devices will be collectively shown under the Other Devices option.
The list shows the device name, model, and the amount of Personal Hotspot data used. You can also see when the usage was last updated (i.e., when that device last connected to your iPhone's hotspot).
Note that the figures here are not updated in real-time. Apple states that the Personal Hotspot usage figures will be updated when you turn off the hotspot and when your carrier reports the latest statistics.
In my tests, I found that the usage figures were also updated when I force-closed and reopened the Settings app on iOS 26.4.
Another point to note is that while the usage figures for one of my Android devices were updated in the Other Devices section (I noticed it increased by a few GB), the old Samsung Galaxy M11 appeared with its own name.
The latter case was that my iPhone 11 appeared twice. I did not reset usage statistics or settings on any device, but I think reconnecting by forgetting the Personal Hotspot caused the same iPhone 11 to appear twice.
Resetting Personal Hotspot numbers
You may want to reset this data at the end of each billing cycle so you can better track your usage. Unfortunately, the Data Usage window in the Personal Hotspot settings does not allow you to remove a device or reset its usage. The only way is to reset all your cellular data usage, which will also reset the hotspot numbers.
- Open the iPhone Settings app and tap on Cellular (it is called Mobile Service or Mobile Data in some regions).
- Scroll to the bottom and tap on Reset Statistics. Turning off the ‘Enable Cellular Usage Statistics’ option will also reset the counter.
If you do not see the ‘Data Usage’ option in Personal Hotspot settings
Here are some tips to fix this:
- Make sure your iPhone is running iOS 26.4 or a newer version. As mentioned earlier, this version is currently in beta.
- Force close and reopen the Settings app a few times.
- Make sure you are using Personal Hotspot. The ‘Data Usage’ option does not seem to appear if you have never used Personal Hotspot.
- Go to iOS 26.4 Settings > Cellular and turn on the ‘Enable Cellular Usage Statistics’ option from the bottom of the screen.
- Restart your iPhone.
- Access Data Usage through iPhone Settings > Cellular > Personal Hotspot.
- Wait for iOS 26.4 to be publicly available.
- Reset all settings, then use Personal Hotspot and try again.
